Winterization

Midwest winters can be brutal!  If it is cold and you suddenly have no water to a fixture, your line may be frozen. Time is of the essence.  The line needs to be thawed quickly before the ice expands and causes a break. We can thaw out the line, check for leaks or breaks, make necessary repairs and install a warming device if necessary.

TIPS:

  • Disconnect hoses from outside spigots
  • Insulate where your water lines enter your home
  • Leave cabinet doors open to allow warm air into areas where lines are susceptible to freezing
  • Keep the garage door closed – many water lines run in the walls and ceiling of your garage.  Leaving the door open, suddenly makes those walls outside walls and they may not be insulated enough to handle extreme cold.
